Big boost as Manchester United defender expected to be fit for derby

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw should be fit to play against Arsenal after the international break, according to the Guardian.

The report claims Shaw is hopeful of recovering from his leg injury in time for the crucial home game against the Gunners on November 19th, but it remains to be seen whether Jose Mourinho would decide to get him involved.

The relationship between Shaw and Mourinho is believed to be strained as the Portuguese manager criticized the player’s performances after the game at Watford a few weeks ago.

Mourinho also made an interesting comment after the win at Swansea, saying some players lack the mentality and commitment to make it at United.

Some reports even claim Shaw is one of those players and if that’s the case, his future at Old Trafford could be in doubt.

Shaw basically missed the entire 2015/16 season due to the horrific injury he suffered at PSV Eindhoven last year, but was able to recover in time for the team’s first pre-season under Mourinho.

However, Shaw is yet to show his pre-injury form this season and risks losing his place in the starting eleven if he continues being hesitant in terms of tackling and overall aggressiveness.

Sooner or later the 21-year-old former Southampton full-back will regain his confidence, but in the meantime he should work hard and follow the manager’s instructions if he wants to keep his place in the team.
