Report: Manchester United still interested in €80 million South American star

James Rodriguez

Manchester United are still keen on Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez, according to Spanish magazine Don Balon.

The report claims Manchester United are the best option for Rodriguez because of Jose Mourinho’s close ties with Jorge Mendes, but the English giants are not the only interested club.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Inter Milan and PSG are all believed to be keen on the out-of-favour attacker, who’s only started 4 games for Real Madrid since the start of the season.

The magazine goes on to suggest the interested clubs are only prepared to offer €40m for Rodriguez, which is reportedly way below Florentino Perez’s asking price.

James Rodriguez has mostly been a peripheral figure at the Santiago Bernabeu since Zinedine Zidane’s appointment in January, which has resulted in intense media speculation about his potential exit.

The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Madrid in the summer transfer window and it seems like speculation is starting to intensify once again.

Despite his recent struggles, Rodriguez is still a quality player and would be a very good signing for Manchester United.

He’d add purpose and creativity to the team – things United have been lacking ever since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

It seems like United will be active in the January transfer window and James Rodriguez could easily end up at Old Trafford.
