Manchester United are set to open talks with Brazilian side Sao Paulo over versatile midfielder Rodrigo Caio, according to the Daily Star.
The report claims United are prepared to make a £12m bid for Caio, but face competition from Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Sevilla.
Caio, who can play in defense or midfield, was reportedly on the verge of signing for Valencia last summer, but the deal fell through due to a failed medical.
However, United are reportedly unconcerned over the player’s fitness and will soon meet his club to negotiate a deal.
The 23-year-old has been at Sao Paulo since 2004, but is being heavily linked with a move away from Brazil in the January transfer window.

It seems like United are one of the candidates for his signature as Mourinho is believed to be keen to sign a versatile defensive player when the transfer window reopens in a few months.
Caio is one of Sao Paulo’s key players, but the Brazilian giants are unlikely to stand in his way if Manchester United make a tempting offer that meets the demands of both the player and the club.
