Chelsea are plotting a move to sign former Juventus defender Martin Caceres, according to reports from the Daily Express
Chelsea were clearly in the market to bolster their defensive lineup this summer and while the Blues left it late, they were able to secure the double signing of David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain and Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina.
The arrival of the duo means that Chelsea’s backline has been significantly bolstered but despite the heavy investment, manager Antonio Conte is still believed to be in the market to further bring in a new defender even though the transfer window is shut at the moment.
Now according to reports from the Daily Express, revelations can be made that Conte is currently plotting to secure the services of Uruguayan international Martin Caceres.
Caceres is currently a free agent after being released by Juventus at the end of last season and his poor record has meant that not many clubs have been willing to take a chance on the 29-year-old this summer.
Conte is well aware of Caceres’ abilities after having worked with him in Turin and now claims have been made that the Italian manager is ready to take a chance on the former Barcelona man.
