Official: Arsenal complete signing of 17-goal player

Arsenal have announced the signing of Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez. The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.

The 27-year-old striker leaves the Spanish side after spending two years in Galicia.

Arsene Wenger has welcomed Perez to the club and has admitted the player’s link-up play is just as impressive as his goalscoring ability.

“He’s not only a goalscorer, he’s a guy who combines well with partners, who can give a final ball and makes good runs,” Wenger told the club’s official website.

“He’s got a good eye for goal and had an outstanding season last year.”

Perez joined Deportivo from Greek side PAOK Thessaloniki two years ago on an initial season-long loan deal.

Deportivo decided to sign him permanently last summer and the striker repaid the club’s trust by scoring 19 goals in all competitions over the course of the 2015/16 season.

Perez played his last game for Deportivo in their 2-1 victory over Eibar at the Riazor on August 19th.

It seems like his prolific form in La Liga last season has convinced the English side to bring him to the Emirates Stadium and the Arsenal fans will be curious to see what he can do.

It’s a very good signing for Arsenal, even though the Spaniard will have to prove he’s not a one-season wonder.

That being said, it seems like Perez is somewhat of a late bloomer like Jamie Vardy and if that’s the case, the Arsenal fans are in for a treat.
