Chelsea receive response regarding ‘significant’ bid

AC Milan have revealed that they have rejected a ‘significant’ bid for Alessio Romagnoli from Chelsea.

Chelsea have made a fine start to their campaign under new manager Antonio Conte and it seems like the Blues will most certainly be challenging for the Premier League title under the passionate Italian.

That being said, Chelsea perhaps need to sign a new central defender in order to mount a genuine title challenge this season as the ageing duo of Gary Cahill and John Terry will not be able to play every game and a host of names have been linked with the Blues over the past few weeks.

The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Stefan De Vrij have been mentioned as targets for Chelsea and recently, claims were made that the Blues had placed a whopping offer of around £35 million in an attempt to secure the services of AC Milan defender, Alessio Romagnoli.

Now AC Milan have gone on to reveal that they had indeed received an approach from Chelsea for Romagnoli but Italian giants revealed that they have rejected the approach and are not interested in continuing negotiations over the prospective transfer.

A statement on Milan’s website read: “AC Milan has received a significant offer for its player Alessio Romagnoli from Chelsea FC.

“The player is not for sale, therefore this negotiation will not continue. The club wants to thank Chelsea FC with whom we will continue to have a great working relationship.”

The revelation from Milan comes as a blow for Chelsea and they now only have four days remaining to bring in a quality defender to Stamford Bridge.
