According to the Daily Star, Chelsea has begun to consider the possibility of signing 23 year old Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.
Chelsea had previously been trying hard to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, but Everton have a very high asking price for Lukaku and Icardi is seen as a good alternative option.
According to 90min.com (via reports in Italy) Arsenal is still very much alive in the race for Icardi. The report says that Icardi is planning to fly to London this week to discuss a possible move to the Emirates.
Icardi has scored 38 league goals in Serie A over the past two seasons, and he would be a strong addition to either Arsenal or Chelsea. Both teams could use another quality striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
As of now, it appears that Arsenal and Chelsea are the two front-runners to get Icardi with Arsenal possibly being slight favorites to land the striker. Of course, things change very quickly in the transfer market, so we will have to wait and see how these talks progress.
