Arsenal reportedly give Wenger funds to complete two major signings

Mustafi

According to the Times, Arsene Wenger has been told that he is allowed to spend whatever it takes to acquire Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Valencia center back Shkodran Mustafi.

The report says that Arsenal had previously wanted to limit their spending to £100 million this summer, but now they are apparently willing to go over that limit in order to secure these two signings.

Signing Lacazette and Mustafi would be a huge boost to the Gunners, seeing as striker and center back are arguably their two weakest positions.

Lacazette would provide competition for Olivier Giroud at striker, and he could become a full-time starter if Giroud struggles.

Mustafi would likely immediately find himself in Arsene Wenger’s starting XI, especially now that Per Mertesacker will be out for a few months with a knee injury.

Of course, simply having the funds to get both of these players does not guarantee that Arsenal will sign them, but if this report is accurate, the Gunners should have a solid chance at getting both Lacazette and Mustafi before the summer transfer window is over.
