Arsenal are on the verge of sealing the deal for Kelechi Nwakali, according to ASJ Academy CEO Emeka Amajiriaku
Nwakali came into global reckoning after impressing during Nigeria’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup victory in Chile last year and it had been reported that Arsenal managed to stave off competition from a host of clubs to agree a deal for the youngster.
Nwakali set to finally complete Arsenal transfer
A fee of around £2.5 million had been mentioned but the completion of the prospective transfer was delayed due to the midfielder’s commitments for the Nigeria Under-20 side.
Now in an update, ASJ Academy CEO, Emeka Amajiriaku, has gone on to reveal that the move is on the verge of being concluded this week as the 18-year-old has arrived in London with his agent to finalize the transfer.
Amajiriaku told All Nigeria Soccer, “Kelechi and Allwell Nwakali are in London now, they arrived on Monday. They are there to see the contract that has been offered by Arsenal.
“Arsenal will determine if he will go on loan or play for the U18s, U21s or first team. We cannot determine that. The contract is for five years and they are in London to sign the contract.”
Nwakali was named the Player of the Tournament during the 2015 FIFA Under-17 World Cup and there is every possibility that the teenager could flourish into a star of the future under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger.
