Chelsea are pursuing highly in-demand 19-year-old Brazilian Striker Gabriel Barbosa. The youngster plays for Santos FC in the Brasileiräo (Brazilian League). Gabriel’s latest comments claiming that he is interested in a move to Premier League has alerted the Blues, reports Mirror. The Mirror also claims that Chelsea has tabled a £25 million bid for the in-form striker.

Barbosa had a superb last season in Brazil and the start to this season has been no different either, having scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 9 appearances already.

Notably, Chelsea has already signed Michy Batshuayi and are likely to retain Diego Costa’s services for the next season. Signing a youngster will be a good move for Chelsea, as they are expected to play with two strikers up-front and they will be made to work hard over 90 minutes. In such a case, having a back up striker is favourable for Chelsea.

Santos has been a creator of great talents in recent past and Barbosa might as well be one of them. Since he himself has confirmed his intention for a switch to the Premier League, the Blues shall not have any problem from other competitors, like Juventus, who have asserted their interest in the striker.
