Manchester United have offered Juan Mata as part of the deal for Paul Pogba this summer, according to the Sunday People.
However, the report goes on to suggest that even though Juventus are interested in Mata, they’re looking for a straight cash deal for Pogba.
United’s owners, the Glazer family, are believed to be ready to sanction a world-record £100m deal for Pogba this summer as the club’s financial condition is excellent.
28-year-old Mata is being heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer and it seems like his days at Manchester United are numbered.
Jose Mourinho wants his attacking players to be faster and stronger, so Mata is unlikely to stay at United beyond the summer.
Mourinho was reportedly unimpressed with Mata’s work-rate at Chelsea, which led to the Spaniard’s move to United in January 2014.
It appears as though Mourinho’s opinion hasn’t changed and Mata will probably have to leave the club if he doesn’t want to spend most of the season on the bench.
Moving to Serie A would be good for Mata as he’d have more time on the ball and if his transfer to Juventus results in Pogba returning to Old Trafford, then it’d be a fantastic piece of business for United.
