Everton manager admits deal for Manchester United star is “possible”

Newly appointed Everton manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed a deal for Manchester United attacker Juan Mata could materialize this summer.

Koeman admitted Everton have a chance of signing both Axel Witsel and Juan Mata while he was signing autographs yesterday.

Koeman was asked about the potential acquisitions of Mata and Witsel, to which he replied: “Yes, it is possible!”

The 28-year-old Spaniard, who scored 11 goals and provided 11 assists in 54 appearances for United last season, has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to offload the Spaniard in this transfer window.

Mourinho wants pace and energy on the wings and Mata doesn’t fit the criteria. The Spaniard can also play behind the striker, but it seems like Mourinho has different plans for his team.

It appears as though Mata’s days at United are numbered. Everton would be a decent move for him, but he could struggle to adapt to Koeman’s hard-working system.

A return to the more technical Spanish league would be a better move for Mata as he’d have more time on the ball.
