According to A Bola, a Portuguese sports newspaper, Lucas Silva has been loaned to Sporting Lisbon. He had been associated with FC Porto for a while, but rivals sealed the deal.
After passing the medical examinations, the Portuguese club only has to make an official announcement to confirm the signing.
It’s the second loan deal for the 23-year-old Brazilian after last year’s Olympique Marseille spell. He failed to impress in France, but the club still trusts in his future potential.
He has been linked with a move to Portugal since he arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu in 2015. He’ll have the opportunity to compete in a good domestic tournament and get some Champions League football as well.
Despite his impressive performances in Brazil captivating Europe’s attention, his adaptation to European football hasn’t been smooth. The permanent rumors of midfielder signings put him lower and lower in the playing rank.
This is the third transfer out for Los Blancos after Denis Cheryshev and Diego Llorente, who was loaned to Málaga CF on Friday.
It may also not be the last midfielder to depart Madrid this summer, as Mateo Kovačić has also been rumored to be pursuited by other clubs.
