Report: Manchester United agree fee to sign attacker

Mkhitaryan

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan for £26.3m, according to Sky Sports.

The report claims Mkhitaryan’s already agreed personal terms with the 20-time English champions and will undergo a medical next week.

Mkhitaryan, who’s Armenia’s all-time leading goalscorer with 19 goals in 59 appearances, was voted the Bundesliga Players’ Player of the Season last month.

He spent last season playing mostly on the right wing, but can also play on the left and behind the striker.

The 27-year-old’s contract with Dortmund is due to expire next summer and even though the CEO of the Germans, Hans-Joachim Watzke, reiterated the club’s intention to keep Mkhitaryan at Signal Iduna Park a little less than 2 weeks ago, it appears as though the German runners-up have decided to finally sanction his sale.

United’s attacking play on the right wing last season was extremely ineffective and it looks like Jose Mourinho has identified Mkhitaryan as the man to solve the problem.

Mkhitaryan would add some much needed creativity to the side and would be a perfect fit for Mourinho’s system.
