Report: Arsenal face crunch time if they are to sign Swiss star

Arsenal has been reportedly interested in Ricardo Rodriguez of Wolfsburg, and now they have been put in a time crunch if they want to secure the Swiss midfielder.

According to metro.co.uk Arsenal will need to make a decision on whether or not to trigger the €25 million release clause in Rodriguez’s contract by July 1.

Rodriguez is primarily a left back who is known for his dribbling and passing ability. Rodriguez has played in the Bundesliga the past few seasons for Wolfsburg, and he recorded a career high 9 assists in league games during the 2013/2014 season.

Nacho Monreal had a strong year for Arsenal last season, so if Rodriguez came to the Gunners he may not be the starter. However, with Kieran Gibbs possibly leaving the club this summer, Arsenal does not have a lot of depth at left back.

I do not believe it is very likely that Rodriguez will come to the Emirates. Wolfsburg are asking for a lot in return for Rodriguez, and with Monreal coming off a good season there is no need for Arsenal to spend a lot of money on another left back.
