Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s agent, Mino Raiola, has refused to concede defeat in his attempts to help seal the Armenian international’s dream move to Manchester United.
The 48-year old agent has said “it would be a sin” to deny Mkhitaryan a move to Old Trafford.
“It would be a sin to stop talking,” Raiola said. “I am a positive guy. If I wasn’t confident of reaching some kind of conclusion, I wouldn’t try.
“I am very proud Manchester United want him and the talks are being held in a good atmosphere, but at the moment Dortmund are still saying no.”
Even though the player’s refusing to renew his contract with Dortmund, the Germans are adamant he won’t be allowed to leave this summer and are even prepared to lose him on a free transfer next year.
The German club’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, told BILD last week: “We at the club actively discussed the option of parting ways with Henrikh Mkhitaryan ahead of time, and we decided that he should stay at BVB also next season.”
However, it appears as though Raiola is not prepared to take no for an answer and will do everything possible to convince Borussia Dortmund to let Mkhitaryan move on.
Dortmund’s reluctance to sell is understandable as the German runners-up have already lost two key players this summer – Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels.
Allowing the Armenian attacker to leave just a few weeks after the two aforementioned players left Dortmund, would send the wrong message to the rest of the team ahead of the new season.
Mkhitaryan’s open desire to leavewon’t go down well with the German fans, so it’s hard to imagine Dortmund keeping him beyond the summer.
If the transfer materializes, Mkhitaryan would be a fantastic signing for United and would greatly improve their attacking play on the right wing.
