Leicester City vice-chairman confident Arsenal target will stay put

The English champions’ vice-chairman, AiyawattSrivaddhanaprabha, is confident Jamie Vardy will opt to stay at the club this summer.

Vardy, whose £20m release clause was reportedly triggered by Arsenal before the start of Euro 2016, is believed to still be mulling over his future, but Srivaddhanaprabha thinks the striker will stay and lead Leicester into the Champions League next season.

“You will see the news very soon,” Srivaddhanaprabha told Sportsmail. “But I think he will stay.”

“I think, so let’s see. We need to build the team. We keep continuing to believe that we can do something special in the Premier League and the Champions League.”

According to the Daily Mail, Leicester City haveoffered the striker a new £100,000-a-week deal to ward off Arsenal’s interest.

The 29-year-old scored 24 goals in 34 league appearances last season as he helped the club to a sensational title triumph.

Despite Olivier Giroud scoring 24 goals in 53 appearances for Arsenal last season, Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen to sign a top-quality striker this summer and it appears as though the French manager has chosen Jamie Vardy.

Vardy would be a good signing for Arsenal. Even though Giroud has mostly been a reliable striker for the club, Wenger needs more options up front and Vardy could prove to be a good solution.

However, Vardy’s move to Arsenal doesn’t seem to be set in stone just yet. The English international has a difficult decision to make and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him stay at Leicester City beyond the summer.
