Report: Manchester United to bid for 23-year-old attacker

Morata

As ESPN FC reports, Manchester United are reportedly lining up a bid for Juventus striker Alvaro Morata.

Morata currently applies his trade for the Serie A champions, netting 7 goals and providing 7 assists during league play last season. The Spaniard has also been capped 9 times for his National team.

United rivals Arsenal and Chelsea, who are both looking to bolster their attack, are also keen on Morata. Morata has been used to Champions league play with Juventus so if the striker wants to continue in the competition Arsenal may have a leg up over The Blues and Red Devils.

Although Morata’s 7 goals in league wasn’t too impressive, he is still only 23 years of age so there is certainly some time for him to fulfill his potential as a solid striker in Europe.

If the anticipated move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic falls through, Morata does provide a solid alternative to the big Swede as United’s current crop of strikers are very young and may need a proven threat to aid in their development up front.

Provided that the Ibrahimovic deal falls through, the move for a player like Morata would be wise decision for United as the Spaniard has proved his worth for European giants, Real Madrid and Juventus.
