Report: Arsenal’s pursuit of £20m Striker faces setback

The Gunners seem keen to sign Leicester City striker Jaime Vardy in what would be the second high-profile signing of the summer transfer window already for the North London club, per the Telegraph.

What is known so far is that Arsenal have matched the £20 million release clause in Vardy’s contract and he completed a physical with the club on Sunday. However, what seemed like a done deal has not gone according to plan for the Gunners.

Vardy was reportedly going to have an answer for Arsenal before leaving England for the Euro’s in France. That deadline came and went and it seems like The Gunners will be waiting until England’s Euro run is complete before they have an answer.

Vardy scored 24 goals in the 2015-2016 Premier League campaign for the Foxes including a record-breaking 11 game scoring run. It is clear Wenger and the rest of the Arsenal brass seem to think Vardy could be the answer to their ever-present striker questions.

At this point, Vardy’s move to Arsenal appears to be highly likely, though anything could happen during the always crazy transfer seasons.
