Manchester United have moved on from the Louis van Gaal era and now are trusting the “Special One” to bring the 20-time English champions back to glory.
Jose Mourinho has been chosen as the one to lead United back to the top of the Premier League table, however, it looks as if he will not have Ryan Giggs along for the ride.
The Old Trafford outfit has been linked with many high-profile potential transfer targets and rightfully so, as the Portuguese manager is considered one of the best in the world and United do need to strengthen certain areas.
Here is next season’s possible lineup for Manchester United under Jose Mourinho –
Goalkeeper
David de Gea appears to be staying at Old Trafford as potential suitors Real Madrid seem to be moving away from the Spanish keeper. Both de Gea and Mourinho share the same agent in Jorge Mendes and Mourinho isn’t crazy enough to disrupt the most important player at the club.
Defence
Matteo Darmian had a roller coaster ride last season where he started off spectacularly but injuries and lack of form stunted his growth as the season went on, but the Italian remains a solid talent and should bounce back under Mourinho. Luke Shaw remains an exceptionable talent and should start opposite of Darmian.
The center backs should be Chris Smalling and John Stones as both are young talents that have proven themselves in the Premier League. United of course would have to sign Stones first, however, Mourinho has long been an admirer of Stones and even tried signing the young Englishman during his second stint with Chelsea.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic was a favorite of Mourinho during his last spell at Chelsea and with talks that the Serbian may be on his way out, United would welcome the strength and bite he can provide in front of the back four. Morgan Schneiderlin, who is another type or Mourinho player, had a mixed bag last season but he can dictate play and provide the no-nonsense tackle when needed.
The attacking midfield will see the likes of Willian, Wayne Rooney, and Anthony Martial getting on the ball. Willian, another former Mourinho player at Chelsea who has been linked with a move to Manchester, would provide an instant upgrade on right wing.
Attack
Zlatan Ibrahimovic promises to make a big announcement soon and many are speculating that it may be his decision to put the pen to paper and sign with United. Marcus Rashford will certainly be in Mourinho’s plans but given his young age a season or two backing up Ibrahimovic may help his development.
