Manchester United will make a £10m bid for West Ham’s Reece Oxford, according to The Sun.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen to add Oxford to his squad and is ready to test West Ham’s resolve with a firm offer.

The 17-year-old defender, who made his first league appearance for West Ham in their 2-0 win at Arsenal last August, is generally regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in England.

After impressing in the Arsenal game, Oxford made 7 more appearances in all competitions for the Hammers before making his final appearance this season in his team’s 3-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on April 30th.

This isn’t the first transfer rumour about Oxford and probably won’t be the last either. He’s under contract until 2018 and, according to a recent Sky Sports report, the youngster has rejected a new deal and the club would be willing to consider offers in excess of £10m.

Oxford has been likened to Rio Ferdinand, who also came through the ranks at West Ham before moving to Leeds United back in 2000.

Whether or not he’ll follow in Ferdinand’s footsteps by joining Manchester United remains to be seen, but if United manage to sign the youngster, they’d be able to add one of the league’s most highly rated youngsters to an already impressive collection of talented English players such as Rashford, Borthwick-Jackson and Shaw.
