The Liga MX Clausura 2016 final will finally arrive when Pachuca hosts Monterrey for the first-leg match this Thursday, May 26, 2016 (6:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Hidalgo. The winner will be crowned on Sunday in the second leg to be played in Monterrey.
The Clausura 2016 final gathers the two best teams throughout the entire season where on the regular standings Monterrey ranked 1st, and Pachuca 2nd. In the playoffs, both sides reached the final after difficult series where the ‘rayados’ defeated their top rivals Tigres in the quarterfinals, and the always diffult Club America in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Pachuca won their two series in dramatic fashion defeating Santos Laguna in the quarterfinals and Leon in the semifinals.
Entering the final, Monterrey is the favorite to win yet Pachuca will be an extremely difficult rival to defeat. The team coached by Antonio Mohamed will suffer from two player absences after Uruguayan midfield Carlos Sanchez was called to join his national team, and also Jesus Zavala who suffered a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Pachuca enters the series with a full squad and will look to gain some advantage in that aspect. The team coached by Diego Alonso has a good opportunity to earn a win at home this Thursday, where they have been undefeated throughout the entire Clausura 2016.
