General Manager Edu Gasper has gone on to reveal that Corinthians have been in talks with Chelsea over the potential deal for Alexandre Pato, as quoted in Globo Esporte
Pato joined Chelsea from Corinthians on a six month loan deal during the January transfer window but after struggling to earn match fitness, the striker was limited to only two appearances during his time with the Blues.
It is clear that Pato’s move to Chelsea did not go according to plan and as a result, the Premier League giantsi are widely believed to be unwilling to sign the Brazilian international on a permanent deal for the pre-agreed price of around £9million.
Pato is now schedule to make a return to Corinthians when his contract with Chelsea expires on June 30th but in a surprise development, revelations have been made that the English outfit could well sign the 26-year-old on a permanent basis.
Alex Pato’s future at Chelsea not yet decided
Corinthians General Manager Edu Gasper stated that his side have been in talks with Chelsea already regarding the issue and will decide on the future of Pato following a discussion with incoming manager Antonio Conte in the coming days.
Gasper told Globo Esporte, “We will wait to see how things will go in regards to the manager [Antonio Conte], but it’s obvious that we’ve been in talks [with Chelsea] already.”
To reiterate this fact, even Pato’s agent, Gilmar Veloz, had a say and explained that he is waiting to see what the two parties (Corinthians and Chelsea) decide regarding turning the deal into a permanent one.
Veloz said, “We don’t know how it will be, since his contract lasts until [June] 30th. As for his purchase, this is between clubs. We will wait to see what Chelsea and Corinthians decide about it.”
