Another edition of the Toulon Tournament will begin for the ‘tricolor’ when Mexico faces France this Wednesday, May 18, 2016 (10:30 AM Pacific) at the Stade Leo Lagrange. Both teams form part of Group A which also includes Bulgaria, Czech Republic, and Mali.
A new opportunity for Mexico’s U-23 team to earn an important title will begin this Wednesday when they face the tournament’s host, France. The team coached by Raul Gutierrez has a solid base of players which will form part of this summer Olympics in Brazil. While this Mexican team does not have its best possible roster, some noteworthy names like Raul Gudiño, Omar Govea, or Carlos Fierro will have a good opportunity to demonstrate their worth prior to Brazil.
Mexico will attempt to improve upon their lastest two performances at Toulon where in 2013 and 2015 they were eliminated in the group stages. The match against France could allow ‘el tri’ to begin the competition with a win which they hope will lead them toward another championship like they did in 2012 when Luis Fernando Tena was in command.
