Manchester United Strongest Possible Lineup vs Leicester City: De Gea and Fosu-Mensah to start in a 4-2-3-1

Old Trafford

Manchester United punched their ticket to the FA Cup Final after holding off an Everton side in a 2-1 triumph at Wembley Stadium last weekend.

Next up for the Red Devils is a home encounter with the league leaders, Leicester City, which will be a huge match-up for both squads.

If United win, they could help play spoiler to the Foxes run at the title, while also ensuring they are gaining the much needed points and hang onto a little bit of hope finishing top 4 in the league.

Here is the strongest possible Manchester United lineup for the match against Leicester City –

Goalkeeper

David de Gea is of course the top play against an impressive attacking side like Leicester with the Spaniard hoping to combat the threats of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. De gea made a brilliant save denying Romelu Lukaku from the spot and continues to remain in heroic form.

Defence

At the back, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind will be surely used in the center of the back four, with the two being the most experienced and trusted this season. Blind’s ability to read the game has been one of the attributes that have contributed to his excellent form.

The left and right backs are where Louis van Gaal could make some changes with Marcos Rojo struggling last weekend and being at fault for the Everton goal. Matteo Darmian and Timothy Fosu-Mensah should be the backs on the day.

Midfield

Michael Carrick put in an impressive shift for the majority of the match against Everton and with a week’s rest, should be available and be joined by the industrious Ander Herrera in front of the back four. Marouane Fellaini remains available for selection off the bench.

In the central attacking midfield role, Wayne Rooney remains the best available for that role and he’ll be joined by the likes of Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial. Rooney put in a wonderful shift at Wembley, tracking back to help the defence on occasion and pulling the strings during the attack in midfield.

Attack

Marcus Rashford failed to find the back of the net against Everton but United’s wonderkid remains van Gaal’s best option to lead the line at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Rashford and Martial’s partnership, dribbling skills, and pace continue to give opposing defenses fits.

In the unlikely event we don’t see Rashford starting, Martial would be able to fill the role with ease and Memphis Depay would come on and fill Martial’s starting spot on the left wing.
