Chelsea ended their losing streak with an impressive 4-1 triumph over Bournemouth last weekend and the victory means that the Blues are all but set to finish in the top half of the table this season, which is a bit of an achievement – considering the terrible run of form the outgoing Premier League champions had endured earlier on in the campaign.
While Chelsea may not have much to play for during the final few weeks of the season – the Blues most certainly can have a huge say in the title race as they have to face both Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City.
The Blues could potentially hand Leicester the title if they beat Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Monday night and given the rivalry between the two London sides, one can be sure that Hiddink’s men will be keen on beating Spurs.
Here is the strongest possible Chelsea lineup for the clash against Tottenham Hotspur –
Goalkeeper
Thibaut Courtois still remains suspended which means that Asmir Begovic will be retaining his place in goal for the clash on Monday. The Bosnian has been in good form and he will have to do well in order to keep the likes of Harry Kane and Erik Lamela at bay.
Defence
At the back, there should not be too many changes as the likes of John Terry and Kurt Zouma remain ruled out while Gary Cahill is doubtful and in truth, the current defensive line of John Obi Mikel, Branislav Ivanovic, Cesar Azpilicueta and Abdul Baba Rahman performed very well last weekend.
If indeed Hiddink does decide to make any changes, the likes of Kenedy and Matt Miazga will also be available for selection.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas were very impressive during the 4-1 victory over Bournemouth and the duo look certain to be starting at the middle of the park for Chelsea against Tottenham Hotspur as well.
In the central attacking midfield position, Willian is likely to start while the in-form duo of Pedro and Eden Hazard will be deployed out on the wings once again.
Attack
Diego Costa failed to find the back of the net in the encounter against Bournemouth but he looks a certain starter for the clash on Monday night.
In terms of alternative options, the likes of Alexandre Pato, Radamel Falcao and Bertrand Traore are all available as well.
