Mexico Players in Europe : April 3, 2016 Report

1 Javier Hernandez

Chicharito began his team’s game on the bench due to his participation with the Mexican national team during the midweek. The Bayer Leverkusen star went into the game in the 61′ and quickly had two missed opportunities which made one think he entered cold into the pitch. However, in the 73′, his luck changed as he scored a wonderful goal from outside the box to momentarily increase the score to 2-0 against Wolfsburg. He then had a great assist in the 87th minute to allow Bayer Leverkusen to win the game 3-0 and place his team in 5th place of the Bundesliga standings.

2 Marco Fabian

As Chicharito, Fabian also participated for his national team during the midweek, so his Eintracht Frankfurt coach decided to not include him in the team roster against Bayern Munich. His team would lose 1-0 after a wonder goal by Frank Ribery.

3 Alan Pulido

The controversial star had a great game for his Greek side, Olympiakos. In the 26′, the ex-Tigres player scored on a header. He then assisted twice, leading his team to a comfortable 4-0 win over Atromitos.

4 Carlos Vela

Vela had a difficult week after suffering a slight ankle injury during practice during the week. Fortunately for the Real Sociedad forward, he was fit for his team’s match against Sevilla and was chosen to start the game. The Mexican had a strong game where a foul on him led to a goal, but at the end he had no goals or assists and was substituted on the 86′.

5 Diego Reyes

The young defender had a busy week as he participated for Mexico in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers for Russia 2018. Regardless, the ex-Club America player played the full 90 minutes for Real Sociedad and was an instrumental part for winning 2-1 against Sevilla.

6 Hector Moreno

The star defender participated for Mexico during the week, but that was not enough from starting him in his team’s difficult match against AZ Alkmaar. Moreno played well in the full 90 minutes in the 4-3 win by PSV Eindhoven. This win allowed his side to remain 2 points behind Ajax for the first place in the Eredivisie standings.

7 Andres Guardado

The midfielder and possible Eredivisie MVP, played for Mexico during the week. Unfortunately, he returned with muscular problems and was not included in his team’s roster.

8 Jonathan Dos Santos

The Villarreal midfielder remains injured and did not form part of his team’s 2-1 win over Eibar.

9 Hector Herrera, Jesus ‘Tecatito’ Corona, & Miguel Layun

The three Mexican stars played for Mexico during the week, but have been included in their team’s roster for Monday’s game. Porto will face Tondela on Monday, April 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM Pacific.
