Teenage star Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches could move to Old Trafford over the summer and the supposed price tag is just under £50m, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The gifted 18 year-old has given new life to the midfield at the Portuguese club this season, and many of his countrymen consider him to be the best Portuguese footballer since Cristiano Ronaldo.
United scouts have been following the young star since January, and they watched him play for his country against Belgium on March 29th.
Sanches is currently signed with Benfica until 2021, and his contract contains a buyout clause for a whopping £60m, though reports suggest United have been pushing hard to lower the figure.
Making matters more complicated, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are interested in his signature as well.
It’s clear that Benfica want to do everything possible to keep him, but with so many clubs keen and big offers coming their way, it seems likely they’ll accept the cash and move on.
