Tottenham’s Nabil Bentaleb has been ruled out for up to six weeks after the Algerian midfielder underwent surgery on his left knee.
The injury was sustained while Bentaleb was playing for Tottenham’s U-21 side against Leicester City’s U-21 side on Friday. Even though he’s out for at least six weeks they expect he’ll be back to training before the seasons over.
The 21-year-old has only made two appearances in the Premier this season after being heralded as the next young midfielder to come up through Spurs’ system. They were in August and then he sustained an injury playing for the Algerian National Team.
Since his return from that injury he’s played only in a couple FA Cup matches for the Lilywhites, but when he’s been on the pitch he hasn’t looked good. He’s still young though and has a ton of time to develop. Pochettino has seen what the young midfielder can do when he’s inform and Bentaleb has tremendous potential.
Even if the Algerian returns before the seasons over it’s going to be tough for him to find minutes in the first team. He’s fallen down the pecking order behind Tom Carroll and Ryan Mason. Eric Dier becoming one of the Premier League’s best holding midfielder this season hasn’t help the Algerian either. When Bentaleb comes back, expect him to resume playing with Spurs U-21 side.
