Slovak defender Martin Skrtel will not play a part in coach Jurgen Klopp’s future plans at Anfield. The former Zenit St. Petersburg player, who had a spell of eight seasons with Liverpool that included over 300 appearances, will be sold in the summer, according to an insider website run by Sky Sports journalist Gianluca di Marzio.

Skrtel has been heavily criticized for his recent performance in the recent 3-2 defeat to Southampton and it’s been reported that Joel Matip, currently at Schalke, is likely to be his replacement. The insider source claims Joël Matip has already “agreed to sign on a free transfer from Schalke 04.”

While Skrtel’s future beyond Liverpool is unclear, what is clear is that Klopp has a vision, and a series of bold moves is ready to be made. Christian Benteke and Mario Balotelli are both reported to be available for the summer transfer market, and there’s rumours flying that goalkeeper Simon Mignolet might lose his top spot to a new addition. As the club looks ahead, Klopp is going to be anything but gentle in his quest to rebuild.
