Tottenham Hotspurs’ Man of the match in the 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspurs’ run in the FA Cup came to an end on Sunday as they lost to Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane 1-0.

The goal came late in stoppage time for the first half as Eagles’ Martin Kelly ran down the right flank and hit it past Michel Vorm near post. That would be enough to win the match as Crystal Palace “parked the bus” in the second half to move on to the quarter finals.

Tottenham started off strong in the first half but struggled to string passes together during the final 45 minutes. Spurs had an off day but Son Heung-min in my opinion was the best player out on the pitch for Spurs.  He looked hungry for goal and was for the most part great on the ball. Every attack Spurs orchestrated pretty much went through the South Korean too.

Son was acquired from Bayern Leverkusen during the summer transfer window and excelled in the Spurs lineup immediately. An injury combined with long travels playing for the South Korean national team meant that he wasn’t fit most times in the late months of last year.

Son also is still trying to adapt to the play style of the Premier League, which takes foreign players a long time to adjust to usually. Every match he’s in though he looks more and more comfortable, and is starting to show the form that we saw early in the season.

Tottenham have a crazy next couple of weeks and now only have three days of rest. They’ll be back at White Hart Lane on Thursday to take on Fiorentina in the Europa League.
