Chelsea in talks over the transfer of £20million-rated 21-year old

Chelsea are in discussions over the departure of left back Abdul Baba Rahman back to Augsburg, according to reports from the Daily Express

Chelsea splashed a whopping fee believed to be around £20million to secure the services of Abdul Baba Rahman from Augsburg during the summer and many felt that the youngster would be giving Cesar Azpilicueta a run for his money for the first choice left back spot at Stamford Bridge.

As it has turned out though, Baba Rahman has been used only sparingly by Chelsea so far this season and having featured for only 246 minutes of action in the Premier League, the 21-year old recently expressed his frustration.

Speaking to German newspaper, Bild, Baba Rahman had said, “Of course it’s frustrating for any footballer to sit in the stands. It’s not something I’ve experienced a lot of.

“As a young player you have to to get used to it, and I have to get accustomed to life at a big club and this world-class league. In my view, the first half year was quite okay. But in the second half I will definitely look to play more.”

As a result, it was believed that Baba Rahman could be pushing for a move away from Chelsea during the January transfer window in order to earn more minutes on the pitch and now according to reports from the Daily Express, claims have been made that the defender is now on the verge of heading back to Augsburg.

The reports state that Chelsea are in advanced negotiations with Augsburg over the transfer of Rahman and the defender is expected to return to Germany on a loan deal till the end of the current campaign.
