Van Gaal ready to allow 21-year old fan favourite to leave Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is ready to offload Nick Powell in January, according to reports from the Metro

Powell joined Manchester United from Crewe Alexandra back in 2012 with the reputation as one of the finest young talents in English football and many believed that the young midfielder would develop into a world star under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Following the retirement of Sir Alex though, Powell’s career has not hit the heights one expected it to not too long ago and the midfielder suddenly finds himself surplus to requirements at Manchester United at the moment.

In his four seasons at United, Powell has been limited to only 9 first team appearances and while manager Louis van Gaal has used the midfielder on a couple of occasions this season, the Dutchman seemingly does not see the youngster in his long terms plans at Old Trafford.

Now according to reports from the Metro, it has been claimed that van Gaal is now ready to dispense with the services of Powell during the January transfer window.

Powell’s contract at United is set to expire at the end of the current season and it is believed that van Gaal is willing to listen to offers for the 21-year old, with no less than six clubs said to be interested in signing the Englishman.
