The agent of Jackson Martinez has confirmed that Premier League giants Chelsea are interested in securing the services of the Colombian star
There have been many problems plaguing Chelsea this season but arguably their most concerning one is the form of their attacking players.
The likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Radamel Falcao and especially Diego Costa have all underperformed so far this season and in order to rejuvenate the attack, it is widely expected that manager Guus Hiddink will be looking to purchase a new attacking player in January.
As a result, it has been no surprise whatsoever to see a host of strikers being linked with a move to Chelsea and reports emerging out of Spain had claimed that Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez is one of the players whom the Blues are interested in.
Martinez has managed only 2 goals for Atletico Madrid since his £25million move from Porto over the summer and it is believed that the Spanish giants are already considering dispensing with the services of the 29-year old.
Despite Martinez’s poor form, Chelsea are said to be ready to take a chance on the striker and a bid in the January transfer window has been seen as a possibility.
Now to further fuel speculation regarding Martinez’s potential move to Chelsea, agent Henrique Pompei has confirmed that Chelsea are interested in the 29-year old and dropped a huge hint that a move might well come into fruition.
Speaking to Football Espana, Pompei said, “Jackson wants to succeed at Atletico, but it’s the club who will decide his future. I can’t say [Chelsea’s interest] is a lie, this is football and no-one knows what will happen in the future.”
