United eyeing surprise coup for stunning attacker

English publication Daily Mail has reported that Manchester United are lining up a bid to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez once the transfer window opens in January.

24-year-old Mahrez has been in outstanding form this season after scoring 14 goals and assisting another six in 18 appearances in all competitions. The Algerian winger has become a fan favourite since signing for the Foxes from French side Le Havre in 2013.

His mercurial performances this season along with the superb form of strike partner Jamie Vardy has seen Leicester surprise everyone by not just powering to the top of the Barclays Premier League but also staying there with almost half the season gone.

Manchester United however have massively underwhelmed this campaign. The Red Devils have found goals hard to come by and that fact is proven when you see that their top scorer for the season is Juan Mata with just four goals to his name.

United would do well to sign Mahrez and they are in desperate need of goals at the moment, but a deal would be difficult to finalize, especially in January, as Leicester are understandably uninterested in letting their best player leave the club.
