Strongest Possible Manchester United Lineup vs Norwich City: 4-3-2-1 with Young, Pereira and Depay to start

Old Trafford

Manchester United have endured a terrible past fortnight following an embarrassing exit from the group stages of the Champions League as well as a shock loss at the hands of minnows Bournemouth.

In addition to the consecutive losses, United have failed to claim a single victory in their last five matches in all competitions and the pressure is being ramped up on manager Louis van Gaal.

Up next for United is a clash against Norwich City and while many feel that the game at Old Trafford is a great opportunity for the Red Devils to get back on track, one can be sure that the solid Canaries will make it very difficult for the toothless looking attack of the home side.

Here is the Probable Strongest Possible Lineup for Manchester United against Norwich City –

Goalkeeper

David De Gea has once again been the stand out performer of the Manchester United side but the goalkeeper made an uncharacteristic error in the 2-1 loss against Bournemouth after allowing Junior Stanislas’ corner to float directly into the back of the net.

Given De Gea’s contribution so far this season, it seems unlikely that the Spaniard will be dropped after making only one error but he will surely be keen on making amends this weekend against Norwich City.

Defence

Louis van Gaal went in with a very inexperienced backline which consisted of the likes of Guillermo Varela, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Paddy McNair for the clash against Bournemouth and after having seen his side suffer, the Dutchman will surely revert to a more experienced back four.

Due to the injuries of Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia, Varela should keep his place in the starting lineup but Phil Jones is likely to be handed a start alongside Daley Blind in central defence.

In the left back position, Ashley Young was surprisingly omitted during the clash against Bournemouth but the former Villa man will most probably make his return in place of the young Borthwick-Jackson this weekend.

Midfield

Bastian Schweinsteiger remains unavailable with suspension for the clash and it is very likely that Michael Carrick will continue in the absence of the German international.

Marouane Fellaini was handed a nod to start alongside Carrick last weekend and despite his fine performance, the Belgian is likely to make way for Morgan Schneiderlin in the game against Norwich. Ander Herrera remains ruled out due to injury.

Juan Mata looks set to continue in the role of a central attacking midfielder while Memphis Depay will also retain his place in the starting lineup. Jesse Lingard was forced off the pitch with an injury against Norwich and if he does not recover in time, Andreas Pereira is expected to be handed a start.

Attack

In the absence of Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial has been leading the line for Manchester United and with the United skipper ruled out, the youngster will continue in attack for the Red Devils.
