If Van Gaal gets sacked, Manchester United to secure superstar manager and striker

Manchester United will secure the services of Carlo Ancelotti and Gonzalo Higuain if Louis van Gaal is sacked, according to reports from the Daily Star

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has come under a lot of criticism this season and perhaps rightly so.

Under the Dutchman, United have been playing some very drab football and much to the dismay of the fans, the Red Devils were unceremoniously dumped out of the group stages of the Champions League despite being provided a very favourable draw.

Having spent over £250million on new players during the last 18 months, it is safe to state that van Gaal has simply not been good enough and it would not be a surprise if the 64-year old is relieved of his duties during the foreseeable future.

There are already a few names that have popped up as a potential replacement for van Gaal if he were to get sacked and according to reports from the Daily Express, it has been claimed that the United hierarchy are seriously considering a move for former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti is currently on a sabbatical following his sacking by Madrid last season but the Italian has been dropping huge hints that he would like to make a return to management sooner rather than later.

A move back to the Premier League has been seen as a huge possibility for Ancelotti and the former AC Milan star is said to be open to the idea of joining Manchester United.

In addition, the reports from the Daily Star claim that Ancelotti will look to bring Argentine star Gonzalo Higuain to Old Trafford if indeed he is given the reins at the Premier League side.
