Manchester United handed major setback in hunt for Bayern Star

Manchester United have been handed yet another major setback in their bid to bolster their squad after reports from Germany claimed that Thomas Muller had “agreed” to signing a contract extension with Bayern Munich.

The Germany international’s current deal with the Bavarian club concludes in the summer of 2019, but so keen are the club to tie their star man down that they have already offered him a new deal that will last till 2021.

German paper Kicker has reported this latest development after Bayern Sporting Director Matthias Sammer was heard singing the praises of the forward. Sammer said, “Thomas Muller embodies everything which distinguishes FC Bayern Munich, he is an absolute role model, an absolute gem and he’s irreplaceable.”

The prospect of Thomas Muller leaving Bayern Munich remains very hard to imagine and this latest development should very well put off any potential suitors who had their eyes on the forward. Not only do Bayern want Muller, but the reverse also holds true. When asked about this contract situation, Muller himself said, “There is a lot of indication for it and not a lot against it.”

While Muller would be a valuable addition to any team, it’s hard to see him ever leaving Bayern.  The forward has scored 13 times in 14 appearances this season and with this kind of record, there’s no chance that Germany’s biggest club will let him go.
