Manchester United looking to replace the injured Valencia with La Liga winger

Manchester United are planning to make a swoop for Valencia star Sofiane Feghouli as a replacement for the injured Antonio Valencia, according to reports from Super Deporte (as cited by Squawka)

Manchester United were handed a huge blow recently with the news that winger Antonio Valencia could be ruled out for the rest of the season due to a foot injury which he had suffered in the derby against Manchester City last month.

Given the fact that United are struggling in attack, the loss of Valencia certainly comes as a setback for manager Louis van Gaal and the Red Devils are looking a bit short on numbers ahead of the upcoming busy festive period.

Therefore, it would be no surprise whatsoever if van Gaal decides to take a dip in the transfer market to find a replacement for Valencia and now according to reports from Super Deporte, it has been claimed that the Red Devils are considering a swoop for Sofiane Feghouli.

Feghouli is currently plying his trade for Valencia and has been one of the most consistent attacking players in La Liga over the past few seasons.

Feghouli remains a key player for the Valencia side but his future at the Mestalla has been put into doubt recently as he has not been able to agree on a new deal at the club which expires at the end of the current campaign.

A couple of clubs have expressed their interest in signing Feghouli as a result and it has now been claimed that United are considering a move for the Algerian international.

United will be able to hold talks with Feghouli in January to sign a pre-contractual deal for next season but van Gaal is keen on a new winger as soon as possible and the Dutchman is hopeful of landing the 25-year old on a bargain price due to his contractual situation with Valencia.
