LvG Explains why Martial has been able to score for Man Utd

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has come forward and revealed his admiration for teen sensation Anthony Martial. The Dutch manager was speaking to the media after his side’s Capital One Cup Third Round victory over Ipswich Town. United won the game by three goals to nil, after goals from Wayne Rooney, Andreas Perreira and Anthony Martial.

Van Gaal heaped praise on Martial by saying, “He knows that he can score and he can score because of his fellow players. We made it very easy for him two times because we’d won the game and the gaps are existing. With his speed and composure he can score. He did it against Liverpool and now again. We are happy but still we have to keep our feet on the ground.”

The 19-year-old Frenchman joined the Red Devils from AS Monaco on the last day of the latest summer transfer window for a mammoth fee of 36m pounds. Reports have also claimed that the transfer fee may later rise to almost 58m pounds, depending on the completion of certain performance-based incentives or conditions.

The gargantuan fee that United paid for the youngster has gone on to attract a lot of controversy and criticisms and speculation was rife as to whether the forward could justify even a portion of such a large fee. However, four games into his Old Trafford career, Anthony Martial is already a star after having hit the back of the net four times.

A debut goal against arch-rivals Liverpool at the Stretford End is the stuff of dreams, and three more goals in his next three games have left United fans fantasizing of what he may go on to be. For now though, the least we can say the player is worth the fee that United paid for him.
