Manchester United to make a £40million swoop for star striker in January ?

Manchester United are already being linked with a £40million move for Paris-Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports from the Daily Express.

Manchester United may have enjoyed a fruitful time in the summer transfer window with the signings of Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin among others but it has to be said that the Red Devils did not do enough to strengthen their attack.

The departures of Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez over the summer left the United attack very weak and the Premier League giants waited until transfer deadline day to sign an unproven striker in Anthony Martial for a fee believed to be in the region of around £36million.

Cavani could join United

While Martial is certainly a good young player, he is nowhere near a finished product and it is clear to see that the current United attack is simply not strong enough to be able to stake a claim for the Premier League title this season.

The United hierarchy seem to be aware of the shortcoming and now to rectify this fact, it has been revealed that the Red Devils are already planning a swoop for a new attacking player during the January transfer window.

According to reports from the Daily Express, United will be making a move for Paris-Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

Cavani is said to be unsettled at Paris at the moment after having to play in a wide position and United are hopeful of luring the 28-year old to Old Trafford this summer by placing an offer in the region of around £40million.
