Manchester United may have missed out on their top targets such as Pedro, Sergio Ramos, Nicolas Otamendi and Thomas Muller this summer but it has to be stated that the Red Devils enjoyed a decent transfer window.
The likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Matteo Darmian most certainly strengthen the United lineup and while the Red Devils may well have overpaid to secure the services of Anthony Martial on deadline day, the young man could prove to be a good signing in the future.
United perhaps are not strong enough to be able to stake a claim as title contenders due to their lack of firepower in attack but another top four finish as well as a good cup run is well within the realms of possibility.
Here is the Probable Strongest Possible Lineup for Manchester United for the 2015/16 season –
Goalkeeper
The David De Gea saga turned into quite a fiasco and as it turns out, the goalkeeper has stayed put at Manchester United this summer.
De Gea is most certainly unhappy at not being able to earn his dream move to Real Madrid but there is nothing he can do about it at the moment and if he is to maintain his spot as the number one for the Spanish national team, the 24-year old will have to play for United before thinking about a transfer in January.
In the absence of De Gea, Sergio Romero has been manning the goal but he does not look at all solid and manager Louis van Gaal may well consider handing the Spaniard a way back into the team for the overall benefit of his squad.
Defence
While the goalkeeping situation at United has turned into a farce, the Red Devils’ backline looks quite solid despite not splashing the cash to sign an expensive new central defender.
The quartet of Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian have formed a solid partnership and the four players seem to be the best combination for the Red Devils at the moment.
United do possess quality backup in the form of Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Paddy McNair as well and the Red Devils seem strong enough in the defensive area to put up a good show this season.
Midfield
Even United’s midfield looks well stocked following the summer arrivals of Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger. Schneiderlin looks a certain starter while van Gaal has been deciding to alternate between Schweinsteiger and Michael Carrick at the middle of the park.
The decision to send Adnan Januzaj out on loan was most certainly a strange one from United but this means that fan favourite Ander Herrera is handed an opportunity to start in the role behind the striker while the duo of Memphis Depay and Juan Mata occupy the wide areas.
The duo of Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia also provide great alternatives to Depay and Mata as the season progresses. Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard stayed put at United over the summer and the young duo could well be a part of the plans for van Gaal this season.
Attack
The United attack looks a bit toothless at the moment though. Wayne Rooney has not looked even close to his best this season and while fans were expecting a big name to arrive to support the England international, the Red Devils decided to splash the cash on unproven youngster Anthony Martial instead.
In addition, van Gaal inexplicably decided to dispense with the services of Javier Hernandez and United clearly do not look strong enough to be able to mount a serious challenge for the title with their current attacking lineup.
