Arsenal eyeing stunning £40million swoop for World Cup winner

Arsenal are planning a move for Mario Gotze, according to reports from the Daily Express.

Arsenal began their Premier League campaign with a lot of optimism and many felt that this would finally be the year in which the Gunners would be able to end their long standing trophy drought.

However, Arsenal’s labored performances during their first two games of the season against West Ham United and Crystal Palace suggests that Arsene Wenger’s men will have to work extremely hard in order to claim the much coveted Premier League title.

Arsenal do possess a strong side but they seem to be short on a striker at the moment and Real Madrid star Karim Benzema has been widely tipped to arrive at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Now in fresh links, it has been claimed that the North London giants are planning a swoop for Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze.

Gotze could be set for Arsenal move

Gotze is considered as one of the finest young attacking players in the world but his future at Bayern has been put into doubt this summer after it emerged that the 23-year old shares a strained relationship with manager Pep Guardiola.

As a result, Gotze has been touted to exit the Allianz Arena and Italian side Juventus had been seen as a realistic destination for the attacking midfielder.

According to the Daily Express though, even Arsenal have joined the race for Gotze and it is believed that the Gunners are looking to make a swoop for the German international within the next few days.

Despite Gotze’s unhappiness, Bayern are not keen on selling their young star and if Arsenal are to lure the 23-year old from the Allianz Arena, they will most likely have to pay over £40million.
