Manchester United to activate star striker’s release clause

Premier League giants Manchester United are willing to activate the £22million release clause of Barcelona star Pedro Rodriguez, according to reports from the Guardian

Following the departures of Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie this summer, Manchester United are currently light on options in attack and the Red Devils most certainly need to sign a new striker if they are to stake a serious challenge for the Premier League title during the upcoming campaign.

United boss Louis van Gaal has admitted that he is looking to facilitate a move for a new front man this summer and has insisted that the player he has identified is a ‘surprise’.

Recently, it has been claimed by the British media that the player Van Gaal is currently referring to is Barcelona star Pedro Rodriguez.

Pedro could be set for Manchester United move

Despite signing a new contract this summer, Pedro has been widely linked with a move away from Barcelona after it recently emerged that his release clause has been reduced from £107million to just £22million.

Chelsea and Liverpool had immediately expressed their interest in signing Pedro upon the revelation and it has now been reported that even Manchester United have joined in the race for the 27-year old.

Now according to reports from the Guardian, Manchester United are ramping up their pursuit to sign Pedro and are now poised to activate the Barcelona striker’s release clause of around £22million.

Pedro has won everything possible at both club and international level in his career so far and if indeed United manage to lure the 27-year old to Old Trafford, his addition will significantly improve the United attack.
