Manchester United set to battle Liverpool for £40million Star

With Manchester United looking to lock up a fourth place finish in the EPL this season, they will surely be disappointed that they are not finishing higher in the table. With the hugely disappointing Radamel Falcao and the declining Robin Van Persie set for departure, Louis van Gaal will need to address the forward role during this summer’s transfer window.

According to Mirror, 27-year-old Karim Benzema is someone that Manchester United have been monitoring as of late. Real Madrid have been said to be willing to sell the French striker while he is at the peak of his career, so they can invest in a younger, more dynamic striker.

Benzema has had a great career so far at The Bernabeu, and has impressive stats to back it up. This year in La Liga, the Frenchman has netted 15 times in 28 appearances while also serving 9 assists. In his 8 Champions League appearances, he has 6 goals to go along with another assist. He certainly seems to be in top form, and would be the prolific striker Manchester United need to have a shot at the title next season.

Benzema thrives in a lone role up top, as his runs through opposing defenses, provide quality passes, and has the ability to finish.

He has been surrounded by amazing talent while at Real Madrid, but would see a familiar face at Old Trafford in Angel Di Maria, as well as another great supporting cast with Rooney and co. behind him. If the Red Devlis were to nab him this summer, he would certainly thrive in that lone role.

Real Madrid are saying to have set the price for the Frenchman at £40 million, leaving many teams lining up to bid. It is rumored that Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen on the forward and could possibly battle it out for his signature. All teams would obviously benefit from his services, but who needs him the most?
