Colombia take on Kuwait at the Zayed Sport City stadium, UAE, in an international friendly match taking place on March 30, 2015. The match, billed to kick off at 4:00PM UTC, is an archetypal David and Goliath situation. Colombia, no. 3 in FIFA rankings and World Cup quarter-finalists are a powerhouse in world soccer while Kuwait, ranked no. 125, are soccer minnows. As such, the entire soccer community expects this encounter to be a walk in the park for the Colombians.

Colombia Team News

Still smarting from their 6-0 dismantling of Bahrain, La Cafeteros are looking to add Kuwait to their casualty list in as many games in two weeks. The South Americans are likely to continue with the 4-2-2-2 formation that proved so effective against Bahrain. With talented players like Cuadrado, Quintero and Bacca, coach Jose Pekerman shouldn’t have a problem fielding a starting eleven capable of sweeping Kuwait aside with ease.

Also, the performances of Ramadel Falcao in the last game should give the Colombians more cause for optimism. It is no secret that El Tigre has had a forgettable Manchester United career so far. He has only managed two goals for the Red Devils in 2015 leading to increased speculation that his loan deal at the club will not be made permanent come summer. As such, his two-goal display for his national team could not have come at a better time for both country and player.

Pekerman would be hoping that his star player continues his goal scoring form against their Asian opponents this Monday. With James Rodriguez missing through an injury sustained in club duty, there is no better time for Falcao to step up and regain his place as Colombia’s most important player.

Kuwait Team News

Unlike their more illustrious opponents, the Kuwaitis are not what one considers a great soccer nation. Despite playing in the relatively weaker, with all due respect, Asian region their record is nothing to write home about. Their last eight games have yielded 1 win, 4 losses, and 3 draws, with a 5-0 loss to Oman ranking highest (or lowest) on that list. The team is expected to approach the Colombia match with the determination and carefulness it deserves but should be wary of giving their opponents too much respect.

Colombia vs. Kuwait Prediction

This should be an easy match for the Colombians, likely to end with a very high margin of victory. Although the majority of neutrals will be rooting for Kuwait, getting something from this La Cafeteros team is one mountain to high. I see Colombia winning by at least five goals to nothing.
