Former Barça Goalkeeper Being Courted by Manchester United

Spaniard Victor Valdes had feared the worst after suffering a serious knee injury this past March, playing for FC Barcelona against Celta Vigo.

By then he had already confirmed that he would not be renewing his contract with the Catalans, which was up in the summer.

However, after undergoing a successful surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, Vales is now focusing on rehab to make a return to the pitch.

Valdes had spent a very successful 12 year spell with Barça, where he won numerous trophies and following his release, he is now looking for the next chapter in his career.

At 32 years of age, he remains in his prime and could see several years remaining competitive at the top level. As a result, Valdes had attracted the interest of a host of top clubs namely Liverpool and Arsenal.

However in surprise move, the Spanish custodian could be on the verge of completing a move to Manchester United. Valdes had been invited to train with United last month and was first spotted at Old Trafford during the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw against Chelsea in October.

Since then, he has been seen in Manchester, while The Peoples Person reports Manchester United Juan Mata confirmation that Valdes has been training with the squad. “We’re waiting to see what his plans are,” Mata added.

Currently, Manchester United Manager Louis van Gaal, has Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos as back-ups. Either way, Van Gaal would surely appreciate having Valdes as an option with his experience and success.
