While Manchester United desperately need to sign a new central defender and perhaps a box to box midfielder in the January transfer window to turn their fortunes around, the Red Devils have been linked with yet another striker in the form of Trabzonspor star Abdul Majeed Waris.
Reports emerging out of Turkey have claimed that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal sent his assistant Ryan Giggs to scout Majeed Waris during the Europa league clash between Trabzonspor and Lokeren last Thursday and it is believed that the former United star has returned with glowing reports regarding the striker.
Majeed Waris has emerged as a shock target for United
As a result, it has been claimed that Manchester United could pursue the striker when the January transfer window reopens and are said to be looking to launch a bid of around £12million to secure the services of the 23-year old.
While Majeed Waris is certainly a good player, the rumors must perhaps be taken with a pinch of salt due to the fact that United really do not need a striker at the moment.
United perhpas do not need Majeed Waris at the moment
The fact that Majeed Waris only joined Trabzonspor over the summer also means that it remains to be seen whether the Turkish side will be willing to part with the striker less than six months after signing him.
Nevertheless stranger things have happened in the transfer market before and if Manchester United do indeed sign the striker, it will probably not be the worst capture in the world.
What do you think? Would Majeed Waris be a good signing for Manchester United OR are the rumors the figment of someone’s imagination?
