Manchester United striker set for a sensational move to Arsenal

Manchester United have played a huge role in contributing to the exciting as well as crazy transfer deadline day with the shock signing of Radamel Falcao and to add more drama and surprise, the Red Devils have reportedly now allowed striker Danny Welbeck to join rivals Arsenal.

It was widely expected that Welbeck would be leaving United this summer and the imminent arrival of Falcao only served to add more fuel to the speculation that the England international would be on his way out Old Trafford.

Danny Welbeck to make a shock move to Arsenal

Either one of Tottenham Hotspur or Sunderland were believed to be the most likely destination for Welbeck but it has now emerged that the Red Devils have shockingly allowed the striker to join fierce rivals Arsenal instead.

Welbeck is set to arrive at London to undergo a medical ahead of the proposed season long loan move and the transfer is said to be officially announced within the next few hours.

Arsenal had been in the market to sign a new striker following the injury suffered by Olivier Giroud recently and had been linked with the likes of Carlos Bacca, Wilfried Bony and Loic Remy, among others.

Welbeck could prove to be a good addition for Arsenal

However, the Gunners now look set to sign Welbeck instead and the deal has certainly surprised many. While it is very difficult to see through the logic behind why United decided to sell Welbeck to Arsenal, the striker looks a very good acquisition for the Gunners and can surely negate the loss of Giroud.

From United’s perspective, it is a bit sad that the club had to part with such a talented player who made his way up the ranks from the youth team but tough decisions had to be made by the Red Devils in order to overturn their current slump, and Welbeck is just one of the long line of casualties set to leave Old Trafford by tonight.
