Arsenal to Sign The Best Keeper in the World?

According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal are pondering a summer move for Iker Casillas. Casillas is arguably the best goalie in the world but has been second choice for the majority of the season.

Casillas is still one of the best goalies in the world, hands down and he has been fantastic for Real Madrid in the Champions League, the only competition he seems to play in. Diego Lopez starts the La Liga matches, so Casillas has had to watch from the bench, something he is not accustomed to very often.

Arsenal have always needed a top keeper. Szczesny has been criticized in seasons past but has improved of late. He is still questioned by many during big games for Arsenal, as he tends to allow easier goals or makes an error.

Santi Cazorla, Arsenal’s midfielder, has stated that Arsenal are interested in Casillas and Casillas is curious about Cazorla’s experience thus far in England.

This rumor is from The Daily Mail, so it has truth in it and is much more trustworthy than other papers, thus it gets an 8.

If Casillas was to move to Arsenal, he would improve the club drastically. Szczesny has been a lot better recently but Casillas has experience in almost every competition, something that is immeasurable.

Casillas is a world class keeper and if he joined The Emirates, it would be a huge signing. I give it a 10 out of 10 as far as helping the club because I think Casillas is arguably the best goalie in the world, maybe just behind Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich.

Casillas has been second choice for the majority of the season at The Bernabeu and it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that he could leave the club come this summer. He can start almost anywhere in the world week in, week out.

Arsenal need to improve in a few areas and if Casillas was available, Arsenal should try to get his signature. I can see Casillas leaving if Lopez remains the number one going forward. Right now Casillas is getting more and more unhappy, so I give this possibility a 30 percent chance only because I do not know if Arsenal is determined to spend a lot on a keeper, especially one over 30 years of age.
